West Mersea

West Mersea offers shallow waters and sandbanks to create an easy and enjoyable sail for beginners, though low tides can reveal stones or rocks. Further out the choppy conditions offer a more challenging sail for the more advanced sailors.

  • Head NE off the M25 on the A12 to Colchester, then head south from Colchester on the B1025 and follow sign.
  • If you arrive at high tide you might have to wait to cross the cause way!
  • Once on the island head down to the south end of the island.
  • There's a car park at the end of Seaview Avenue
The hut for West Mersea windsurfing club is opposite the car park. It's nothing more than changing room and storage for members, but feel free to introduce yourself anyway.

Plentiful! There is ample parking next to the beach with a large grass rigging up area. This spot doesn't seem to be popular with day trippers so you should get a space even on a gorgeous summers day.
