West Mersea offers shallow waters and sandbanks to create an easy and enjoyable sail for beginners, though low tides can reveal stones or rocks. Further out the choppy conditions offer a more challenging sail for the more advanced sailors.
- Head NE off the M25 on the A12 to Colchester, then head south from Colchester on the B1025 and follow sign.
- If you arrive at high tide you might have to wait to cross the cause way!
- Once on the island head down to the south end of the island.
- There's a car park at the end of Seaview Avenue
Plentiful! There is ample parking next to the beach with a large grass rigging up area. This spot doesn't seem to be popular with day trippers so you should get a space even on a gorgeous summers day.
